Secrets worth Sharing 3
Es Vedrà
Iconic Es Vedrà, shrouded in myths and legends, is one of Ibiza’s most popular viewpoints and it’s easy to understand the appeal of this magical rock in the Med. Visitors flock from all over the island to marvel at this beautiful landmark and one of the most popular times to visit is around dusk to catch the breathtaking sunsets. If you prefer to visit during the day then as you’re perched nearly 500m above sea level you’ll also get a glimpse of the mainland far away on the horizon.
We love a good backstory and Es Vedrà is thought to be one of the most magnetic spots on earth and some believe the tip of the sunken City of Atlantis. Stories also circulate that it served as the birthplace of Phoenician goddess Tanit and that seductive sirens and sea nymphs hung out there in Ulysses’ day. Whatever you make of the stories, it’s sure to take your breath away and make a lifelong lasting impression.
How to get there!
To reach this magical destination head towards San José and follow directions for parking here. Prior to sunset it does get extremely busy so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment and ensure you find a parking space. In peak season many cars line the approach road so please take care if you’re on foot.
Once parked simply follow the walkway and the crowds to the edge of the cliff face to take in the stunning views. Please remember to take care when approaching the cliff edge and don’t go too close as it’s a sheer drop!
The Eye of Es Vedrà
If you’d prefer to visit this gorgeous location from a different viewpoint our secret worth sharing is called the Eye of Es Vedrà.
Please note, parking is extremely limited, follow the directions here and be sure to arrive early!
Park up and follow the path just to the left of the electrical pole heading through the woodlands and eventually arriving to the cliff side.
The actual eye is located at this point.
If you’d prefer to get close-up and personal with this iconic island then we highly recommend spending a blissful day on the water. Please contact our concierge for more details on full and half day boat charters and sunset cruises.
